  What is "Ashitaba"?

It is known as the "Treasure" and the "King of Vegetables" of the Longevity Island. It may be the "Plan of Longevity" that the First Emperor of China of the Chin Dynasty was searching for.

In the days of the Edo Era, the Hachi Jo Island, Japan Ashitaba was also known as "longevity Herb". Its scientific name is Angelica Keiskei Koidzme.

We called it Ashitaba (meaning Leaves of Tomorrow in Japanese), because of it's strong life-force. When you pick its leaves today, the new tender leaf will sprout tomorrow.

Ashitaba is a specie of the celery family. It is a large perennial plant (about 4 years). As a genus, its Latin name connotes angel. Many white flowers bloom in fall after it has been planted for three years. These white flowers remind one of an angel's halo. Many plants of the same genus are used as medical herbs. There are numerous medicinal herbs of the same genus to which Ashitaba belongs, such as Radix Angelicae Sinasis, Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, Rhizoma Liguistici Chuanziong, Fructus Foeniculi, and Radix Vital  base drugs in Chinese precriptions.

What makes Ashitaba grown on Hachi Jo Island different?
The special soil of this volcanic island along with the black tide of the Pacific Ocean enrich the Ashitaba grown on Hachi Jo Island. Ashitaba grown in areas other than Hachi Jo Island, Japan is different in its contents, due to the difference in planting soil type, weather, temperature and fertilizer used ...etc. In Korea, Taiwan and other areas have been tested to blossom pre-maturely (8~16 months), compared with Ashitaba grown on Hachi Jo Island which blossom around 4 years. The differences are the loss of nutrients and most importantly, the absence of the "Chalcone" element. This condition is similar to "Ginseng", which is best grown in Korea. Only Ashitaba grown on Hachi Jo Island is approved by medical study and research in Japan.

  What is "Chalcone"?

CHALCONE is the most characteristic element that we found from Hachi Jo Island Ashitaba.
Ashitaba
contains a thick, sticky yellow juice, which is not found in other celery plants. This yellowish element in Ashitaba is neither a flower pigment nor a carotene, but rather two kinds of "
CHALCONE" conductors, named "Xanthoangelol" and "4-Hydroxyderricin".

   How to choose Ashitaba Product?
Beware of "Junk" Ashitaba.
Like all nutritional products, beware of your source of Ashitaba. The original, full-powered source of Ashitaba is grown on the pristine Hachijo Island contains the complete range of phytonutrients in full idea cellular resonance. Sources that have been tested that were grown elsewhere (especially in the U.S., grown with polluted water in poor soil, etc.) have been like shadows of the real thing - with extremely deficient cellular resonance (often chaotic values). It is best to avoid these sources altogether.

Our Percent Ashitaba products are from the origin and have the Certification of Origin from Hachi Jo Island, Japan.
